Starting a Conversation

Talking to others can be very hard. One thing to always remember is to be yourself- if they don't enjoy talking to you, it's them who are missing out on someone to build an amazing friendship with! To start a conversation, we could talk about the weather but nobody wants to do that anymore.

Ask Them a Weird Question

This is one of my favorite things to do when I start to talk to someone. I like to find their opinions on things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things (this can also lead to some interestng conversations!). These are some of the examples I have thought of in the past:

Ask How Their Day Has Gone

This seems like such a small thing but for some people who may not get asked often, this could actually mean a lot! If they tell you about their day or about how things are going on, you can find ways to relate or connect with them on a more personal level.

Ask How Things Have Been Recently

Maybe recently they won a match in basketball or had participated in a music program. Asking them how it went could start a conversation related to that subject, not to mention it could help you learn more about them!

Conversation Starters

Here's a few ideas on ways to start a conversation with someone you want to talk to.

  • Did you play Club Penguin? If you did what color was your puffle?
  • Do you like eating mac and cheese with a spoon or fork?
  • If you could have any other name what would it be? -If you were a bug, what bug would you want to be?
  • Do you prefer the day or night? Sun, moon, or stars?
  • Do you prefer orange juice or apple juice? -What mythical creature would you want to be and why?
  • What is your favorite Starburst flavor?
